How common are nursing home negligence complaints in Manhattan?
Between August 1st 2017 and July 31st 2021 there were 1,794 allegations of inadequate care or violations of federal or state regulations filed against Manhattan nursing homes. This was 3.4% of the total number of complaints (52,630) filed in New York state over the same period.
And on average, there were 51.4 complaints per 100 occupied beds in each Manhattan facility — slightly higher than the New York state average of 50.1 complaints per 100 beds.
These complaints, along with facility inspections by the Department of Health, resulted in the issuance of 273 citations to Manhattan nursing homes over the period.

Which Manhattan nursing homes received the most complaints?
Between August 1st 2017 and July 31st 2021, the Terence Cardinal Cooke Health Care Center on 5th Ave was the Manhattan nursing home which received the highest number of complaints (513), while the St Marys Center on West 126th Street had the highest number of complaints registered per 100 patients (120.9).
